1. What is your FCB Bank story?
I have been a community banker since 1986. I started my banking career with Carroll County Bank and Trust Company where I worked for 14 years. I started in the consumer loan department and over my time there I advanced to the student loan administrator, indirect lending support, and commercial lending department as an administrative assistant working closely with the 14 branches. I really enjoyed assisting the branch teams so when an opening came up for Assistant Branch Manager in Hampstead, I jumped at the opportunity. I was then promoted to branch manager of the Finksburg office. While with the bank, I developed an in-school banking program which I have implemented at both NWSB Bank and ACNB Bank. In March of 2000, Carroll County Bank was acquired by BB&T. I remained in my manager role at Finksburg until joining NWSB Bank in May of 2000.
In May of 2000 I joined NWSB Bank as the Branch Manager of their very first branch, College Square in Westminster, Maryland. Over the years I advanced to Business Development Officer, Branch Administrator and then Chief Deposit Officer. My direct reports included Branch Managers, Marketing Officer and Deposit Services Manager. I was very involved in deposit product development, deposit pricing, strategic planning, training, employee development and sales. In July of 2017, NWSB Bank merged with ACNB Bank. I was offered my current role of Region Sales Manager for NWSB Bank’s community banking offices. In January of 2022 the five FCB Bank offices were transferred under me as well. I enjoy working with our frontline teams and sitting in our community banking offices meeting and conversing with customers.
2. What do you love about working at FCB Bank?
I consider myself a “people person” and have enjoyed connecting with so many wonderful people at the Banks. Some have moved on or retired but the connection and professional friendship remains. I love the “family” feel and atmosphere and the many opportunities employees have to advance their careers.
3. What activities do you enjoy doing outside of the office?
I enjoy giving back to the community as well as sharing my banking knowledge with others. I currently serve on the following boards/committees: Carroll County Food Sunday, Carroll Hospital Foundation/Pink Fling Committee (Fund raising for breast cancer), and Maryland Banking School Board of Trustees (Maryland Banking Association). I annually present to the freshman class at the Maryland Banking School regarding making financial education presentations within the community. I also serve on the Carroll Community College Book Fair Committee and I give Consumer Education Presentations within the community.
4. Why should people bank at a community bank?
Local community banks use the deposits we collect to fund both consumer and commercial loans within the communities we serve. We are dedicated to supporting community organizations both with monetary donations as well as employee volunteer service hours. We provide the same products and services as the national/global banks and offer a very competitive price. And we hire local talent. Our PEOPLE are the face and feel of the Bank. They are not just a number to the organization and they enjoy their jobs.
5. What are some of your favorite local activities or restaurants?
I believe in giving back to our customers by becoming their customer! When I have a need for service at home I search for a company that banks with us such as Fogle’s Septic Clean. Some of my favorite local establishments include Keith’s Car Wash, Bess and Ben’s Country Kitchen, The Buttersburg Inn, Shipley’s Fine Jewelry, Miller’s Market, Taneytown Liquors, and Dutch’s Daughter just to name a few.
I’m also a crafter at heart and love getting creative by making holiday signs for front doors, and tee shirts to inspire and motivate employees.
